Sometimes, the toughest losses come off the field. But what if that off-the-field loss was an addition to the battles that you have been losing on the gridiron? That’s just one bad thing after another. For Russell Wilson, it’s just that… Lost the wild card game, lost the Steel City’s faith (which was already in bleak supply), and now, he’s had to say goodbye to his beloved Prince…

He wasn’t just the Wilsons’ pet dog. Losing their Great Dane, Russ and Ciara lost a family member. There’s an age-old adage: pets aren’t just animals; they’re family, confidants, and a source of comfort. Well, there’s a reason for it. For Russ and his family, it was a 12-year bond that they have had to say goodbye to.

The Steelers QB put out a post in Prince’s tribute with a cute snap of Mama, Papa, and doggo as the caption read: ““Prince” 12 years ago you came into my life. I got you my rookie year & you have been a blessing to our family with so many memories, hugs and kisses from our 4 kids and us. You will forever be a part of us. Today was a hard day. But you overcame cancer 2x and lived 12 years when most live 6. Heaven got a good one! Forever the Prince of Peace. Love you.”

Wilson mentioned that Prince had been diagnosed with cancer on two separate occasions but managed to overcome both challenges. As reported by TMZ, Wilson and his wife Ciara are also the proud owners of two additional Great Danes.
